About This Trip

Home to pandas and paradise to all the foodies, Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan Province and also a UNESCO city of gastronomy. Sichuan people's personality is closely connected to what they eat. Their preference for hot and spicy flavor reflects their boldness and enthusiasm. Sichuan cuisine is renowned for its bold and intense flavors, especially its liberal use of spices like chili and Sichuan pepper, creating a hot and numbing sensation. This preference for strong flavors mirrors the bold, straightforward, and enthusiastic personality of Sichuan people. They are unafraid to pursue and express intense tastes, just as they are unafraid to show their true feelings and opinions in life, dealing with things and people in a bold and unrestrained manner. A day tour to the Sichuan Cuisine Museum and a cooking class is a unique and exciting adventure!

Itinerary

Cooking Class

In the morning, get picked up at your hotel and head to Sichuan cuisine museum, surrounded by beautiful gardens and traditional architecture. As you enter, you're immediately greeted by the rich aroma of Sichuan spices. You start your exploration by learning about the history and evolution of Sichuan cuisine, seeing ancient cooking tools and traditional recipes.

Then, it's time for the cooking class. The chef welcomes you with a big smile and introduces you to the key ingredients and techniques of Sichuan cooking. You put on your apron and get ready to roll up your sleeves. First, you learn how to make the famous Mapo Tofu, carefully preparing the spicy sauce and adding the silky tofu. The smell is intoxicating!

Next, it's time to tackle Kung Pao Chicken, chopping the ingredients precisely and stir-frying them to perfection, creating that signature numbing and spicy flavor.

After the cooking class, you enjoy a delicious lunch featuring the dishes you just prepared, along with other classic Sichuan specialties like Spicy Diced Chicken and Twice-Cooked Pork.

As the day comes to an end, you leave with a full stomach, new cooking skills, and a deeper appreciation for the bold and flavorful world of Sichuan cuisine.
